I love my Google Apps, or Gapps if you like. But there has always been one problem with the Google look. All that white. I mean it is really blinding, not to mention all that white is not great for the battery.
Lets be honest most of us at one time or another have wished that Google would offer an inverted look to their apps. For a long time I did and I stumbled across the work of Tun_SD on the DHD forums cooking up inverted Gapps for IceColdSandwich – anyone else here remember just how great a rom that was, and still is. He answered my need, along with many others need, for inverted Gapps.
Since the DHD is long gone, we have all moved up to One X’s or S3′s has Tun stopped working? Of course not. He has teamed up with justin860 and together they present to you JusTunBean 4.1.2 Aroma Installer.
So what is this exactly, when you get down to it. The JusTunBean (or JTB as I am going to call it) is a simple app that you run while in a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM just after you flash a new rom instead of flashing the normal Gapps package. Here you are given the option to install the inverted Gapps of your choice. There is also a quick flash if you just want everything. It is a simple easy to follow setup, not unlike the setup you first come across when you run a phone for the first time. If you have never thought of trying this DO IT RIGHT NOW. I know, I can never go back to using the standard Gapps.
So what is inverted? LOTS!!!!
The Inverted Gapps are:
Gmail
Google Currents
Google Docs
Google Music
Google Now
Google Play
Google Plus
Google Reader
Google Talk
Google Voice
Youtube
And the Inverted System Apps are:
Calendar
Contacts
MMS
People
You also get the option of installing a few extras, at the moment these include:
Apex Launcher
Nova LauncherApollo Music
Dropbox
ES File Explorer
MIUI Music
ROM Toolbox Lite
Throw in a few themes and the standard Nexus Boot animation what you have is a well rounded, well put together package of inverted Gapps and extras.
If you can flash a rom then you know how to use this. It is that simple.
Now, the installer has been designed for roms running Jelly Bean. That is Android 4.1. If you are running a lower version of Android and you decide to try this out to see if it works you do so at your own risk. It is worth also saying that Sense and TouchWiz roms are not supported, plus if you are running a PA rom you may encounter a few issues. However make sure you have a backup incase something goes wrong. We here at Droidaphile are not responsible for bricked devices, the dog chewing on your slippers, your girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband/civil partner running off with the postman, your ex. Nor are we responsible for any outbreak of war that may result in you doing this. And do not be thinking that Tun_SD or justin860 are to blame either. Again make sure you have a backup and read the threads.
There is one small issue I should bring up, just to be clear. Come time that Google updates one of the apps you are going to have to wait a little bit for the updated version. It might be a day or 3 but it is worth it.
The JusTunBean Installer is perhaps one of the greatest things there is on all of my devices right now. Like I said above I love this. I love the inverted look. And if you love it let the guys know that you like their work. Stop by their Google+ Page, or the XDA/AndroidSpin thread and thank them. These guys do this for the love of it. To make your device better suit you. I know how hard they work and how much of their spare time they give up to do this. So please drop them a line at least and thank them.
