(Hands On) Black PU Leather Wallet Case For The Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Upon getting a Galaxy Nexus recently I decided I wanted a case of some kind. While hunting through Amazon I stumbled across this wallet case. Once glance at the price of £2.69 and a handful of somewhat decent reviews I decided why not and ordered one.

The description was not the best -

This accessory pack includes a PU leather wallet case, screen protector and cleaning cloth. The wallet case for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is not only attractive; it also offers increased protection for your device.

However a couple of days later it showed up and to be honest I love it.

Now let me get a couple of things out of the way. Yes, it is cheap. No, it is not real leather. Will it fall apart after 6 months of use? I would guess so. Will it offer lots of protection if dropped? I doubt it. But guess what? I do not really care.

While I am sure the quality will not last forever, the build quality is actually quite good. The phone when inserted into the case is safe and secure. Not once have I worried that it will fall out. In fact the couple of times when I have wanted to take it back out of the case I found it securely attached, and had a bit of a struggle getting it free. While in the case you still have easy access to the power button and the volume controls as well as the micro usb for charging or connecting to your computer.

From the wallet side of things it will not hold much. 2, possibly 4, credit cards and some money in the pocket. If you are used to carrying about lots of store cards and other types of card this could be a problem for you. Not to mention that you will have to fold your bank notes for them to fit into the pocket. But again, this was something I did not really find to be a problem. If anything I welcomed the reduction in the amount of cards that I normally carry.

A quick word about the screen protector. I never put it on. I have never liked using them, I think they are a waste of money and only restrict your interaction with the phone. While I would never use one, I think it is nice that you get one thrown in. With the case flipping over and closing securely, with a little magnet tab which does a great job, I feel a screen protector is even more redundant here.

In closing, for less than £3.00 this is a great little case. I am really taken with it. So much I have also ordered one for my One X. While it will never be as cool as a Cruzierlite case nor offer as much protection as an Otterbox case it will get you by for those moments that you need a case like this.
