I want  take a couple of moments and give a little thank you to the devs of Media Solutions. They are the nice people behind Screencast. If you don’t know what Screencast is it is a great wee app that lets you take screenshots and video of your Android phone.

Now when I say you can take video of your phone I do not mean you use the camera and film something. No, you hit record and whatever actions you do it records it. You open an app, you move through screens, or the app drawer it catches it all.

The thing is I have had a little problem with the app. Well 2 problems in the last week when it refused to work. Don’t worry it is all working fine now. Each time I knocked off a quick email to them and in both cases I got a reply within 5 minutes. And my problem was fixed. I actually knew what to do the second time but I was asked to send them a log file if it ever happened again.

I just want to say that I cannot be more impressed with their level of customer service and they put the big companies to shame. I have been waiting on a reply from EA for over a week now about something else.

So check them out. The full version costs £2.99 and I highly recomend it. If you want to try it out first they do have a trial version on the Market for free also which gives you 30secs of recording time.

UPDATE (7th Feb 2012): I just found out that a company called Gen are selling Android based chargers,. They are not like the one below, personally speaking I think they look so much cooler. It called the Andru USB Phone Charger and it will set you back $25. Again this is for US users only. I wish someone would make a UK based Android Charger- Gen I am looking at you.

By now your asking where can I get one. Randy said that he picked his up on Android Swag, but I have already looked and they are out of stock. A quick look about I found out that it was a limited edition charger launched with the SciPhone Dream G2. But I have also found a few places that do sell it online, however everyone is sold out at the moment.

The Carphone Warehouse are doing an incredible deal if your on the lookout for a cheap Android phone. Perhaps you want to try rooting but are too scared in-case you brick your lovely shiny new Galaxy II or Sensation XL. Perhaps the kids keep stealing your phone to play Angry Birds.  Or perhaps you just want a cheap second phone knocking about in-case your pride and joy slips from your hand.

I got a message that from someone on Goolge+ asking me if I was having any trouble downloading apps from the Amazon Appstore the last few days.

Since us at Droidaphile are based in the UK we have been using a work-a-round to get access to the FAOTD for quite a while. But from the looks of it that could be over now.

Since Amazon has not been offering anything decent for the last few days I have not been picking up the FAOTD’s. So I am not sure how long this has been in effect, but sure enough when I checked it myself I had the same problem.

Check the video out below to see what is going on. I also try in to install an app that I had previously installed and then removed and it reinstalled for me just fine. So did applying an update, both of which you can see in the video. *Note: There is no sound in the video*

Is this happening to anyone one else? Let us know.

The guys over at ‘Android News UK ect’ are reporting that if you have a Stock Desire then expect a little update coming your way. No word yet on what the update brings though. If you have an original Desire and get the update let us know.

It is day 9 of Google’s 10 Billion Promotion. I am curious. Google, are you getting lazy? There are a couple of good apps in the list. But Swiftkey while it is amazing and I hate using any other keyboard it has already been offered. At least today they are only offering one app that they have previously offered. But the companies behind MX Moto and Toddler Tapping Zoo are getting their 3rd and 4th entry in the promotion. I know I complained about this with EA but I really feel that more developers should have been given the chance.

There is a new version of the Market hitting phones. But these things take a while to reach everyone. If you don’t want to wait you can download the apk here, and you don’t need to be rooted to get it.

So what is different? The speed. It is so silky smooth. And fast!!! I cannot get over how wonderful it is.
